Suns wiped out twice by Legends

May 03, 2002

LEXINGTON, Ky. - All things considered, the Hagerstown Suns probably wish Wednesday's rain had continued on Thursday.

The Suns, rained out on Wednesday, saw their losing streak stretch to four games Thursday by dropping a doubleheader to the Lexington Legends, 8-5 and 9-0, on Thursday.

Hagerstown took a 5-0 lead in the first game as Bryan Carter delivered a bases-loaded, three-run double in the second inning before Miguel Miranda and Julio Cordido hit solo homers in the fourth inning.

The five-run lead was wiped out by Lexington's six-run fifth. All told, the Legends outscored the Suns 17-0 in the final 11 innings of Thursday's twinbill and 28-7 in the three-game series.

Branden Florence went 4-for-6, including three doubles, for the Suns (12-16) on Thursday.

Hagerstown, which has dropped six of eight games, heads to Greensboro, N.C., for a three-game series, a single game today and a doubleheader on Saturday.
