A Martinsburg woman has been charged in an accident that killed a 21-year-old city man Tuesday, authorities said Friday.

Stacy Ronevich, 35, of 79 Founders Court, was charged with DUI causing death.

She was being held Friday afternoon in Eastern Regional Jail near Martinsburg on $20,000 bond. A spokeswoman at the jail said Friday night that Ronevich was no longer there.

Steven Andrew Cheeseman of Martinsburg died in the 5:30 p.m. accident on Novack Drive near Bunker Hill, W.Va. He was a passenger in 1991 Honda Civic driven by Matthew Weaver, 20, of Bunker Hill.

Weaver is in fair condition in the intensive care unit at City Hospital, hospital officials said.

Police said Ronevich was traveling east on Novack Drive when her 2000 Nissan minivan crossed the center line and hit the car occupied by Weaver and Cheeseman.

Ronevich told West Virginia State Police she had fallen asleep at the wheel, police said.

Weaver and Cheeseman were on their way to a fast-food restaurant when the accident occurred.

Cheeseman was a Musselman High School graduate who had recently graduated from a school in Chillicothe, Ohio, where he had trained to become an audio engineer. Family members said he wanted to get a job in the music recording business.

If convicted of the DUI causing death charge, Rovenich faces one to 10 years in prison and a $1,000 to $3,000 fine, according to court documents.
