The Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Hagerstown have teamed up to bring "Elvis" to Hagerstown on Sept. 7.

The afternoon street festival will include performances by several Elvis Presley Tribute Artists.

Proceeds will support the development of the Hagerstown Arts and Entertainment District.

Tickets go on sale at the Chamber of Commerce office on May 1. Only 1,000 tickets will be available.

An Elvis Lives in Hagerstown Web site set up by Elvis fans is available through the Chamber's site at

No tickets will be sold on the day of the event. Tickets are $15 for general admission, or $25 for privileged seating.

The stage will be constructed in front of the Maryland Theatre on South Potomac Street, and seating will be arranged both north and south of the stage.

Four Elvis Tribute Artists have been contracted to perform: Jamie Aaron Kelley of Boone, Iowa; Chris MacDonald of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Doug Church of Battle Creek, Mich.; and Travis Morris of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.

While several companies are sponsoring the event, Chamber president Fred Teeter said more sponsors are needed.
