Vivian E. Ulrich


FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Vivian E. Shank Ulrich, 85, a resident of Beverly Health Care, and formerly of 5500 Lincoln Way East, Lot 38C, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at the nursing home.

Born April 3, 1917, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Owen D. and Mae Beard Shank.

She attended Waynesboro schools.

She was a homemaker, and was employed as a nurse's aide at Waynesboro Hospital for 10 years.

She was a member of New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg, Pa.

She was a member of Mount Vernon Chapter 398 Order of Eastern Star, Waynesboro, where she served as past Worthy Matron; and the Sun and Lake Gold Club in Florida.

She is survived by her husband, David A. Ulrich, whom she married July 5, 1934; two daughters, Barbara Creager of Waynesboro, and Janie Smyser of Thomasville, Pa.; two sisters, Alma Oberholzer of Greencastle, Pa., and Gertrude Miner of Chambersburg; two brothers, Eugene Shank of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Wayne Shank of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Gary E. Ulrich; and two brothers, Ruppert Shank and Phillip Shank.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg. The Revs. Omer E. King and George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.




Zachary W. Tobery


Zachary Wayne Tobery, 7, of 116 N. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.

Born Oct. 28, 1994, in Baltimore, he was the son of Keith O'Brian Tobery and Angela Maria Campbell Tobery, both of Hagerstown.

He was a second-grade student at Eastern Elementary School.

He attended Full Life Family Ministries, Hagerstown.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Tisa L. Campbell of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Amber M. Starr of Warren, Mich.; five brothers, Ernesto M. Martinez III, Dakota S. Tobery, Keith Michael Tobery and Keith O. Tobery Jr., all of Hagerstown, and Keith Scott Shumaker of Clear Spring; paternal grandmother, Barbara A. Kelly of Hagerstown; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Louise E. Campbell; and paternal grandfather, Gerald Eugene Tobery.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Paul L. Berry Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Josephine Weaver


Josephine "Jo" Weaver, 66, of 332 Wakefield Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 13, 2002.

Born June 10, 1935, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ragan H.L. Shaw and Viola Wolfe Shaw Shearer.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Charles A. Weaver; one sister, Eileen L. Rider of Hagerstown; two brothers, Ragan Shaw Jr. and Floyd Shearer Jr., both of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Kathleen D. Stitzel.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sandra L. Shoemaker


Sandra Lynn Shoemaker, 42, of 400 W. Howard St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Born Dec. 4, 1959, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Harold L. Smith Sr. of Hagerstown and the late Cleo I. Toms Smith.

She was employed by the Western Maryland Hospital Center.

She attended Covenant Baptist Church, Shepherdstown, W.Va.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Robert J. Shoemaker; two brothers, Harold L. Smith Jr. of Hagerstown, and Ricky A. Smith of Smithsburg; two stepsisters, Suzanne I. Smith and Shirley M. Sadler, both of Hagerstown; one stepbrother, Paul K. Sadler Jr. of Greensburg; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Chaplain Don Evason will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mildred I. Ressler


Mildred Irene Ressler, 77, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.
