A motorcyclist was injured Sunday evening when he collided with the front end of a car that was turning into a driveway on Whittier Heights, said Washington County Sheriff's deputies.

Thomas Alan Bender, 49, of 1520 20th Ave., Beaver Falls, Pa., was taken to Washington County Hospital shortly after the 6:09 p.m. accident. At 10 p.m., Bender was still being treated in the emergency room, hospital officials said.

Deputy First Class David Sanders said Bender was northbound when he hit a silver Honda driven by Edward John Soffe, 29, of 20 Whittier Heights. Soffe was turning into his driveway when Bender approached but went around his vehicle, hitting the front end.

Neither Soffe nor his wife was hurt in the accident.

Bender was charged with improper passing, Sanders said.
