Here are some` of the calls we have received lately:

"Concerning the call about the men that are using the scam on shampooing your carpets. One of these men came to my house and when I said, 'I wasn't interested, that I just had my carpets shampooed,' he tried to get in the door saying, 'Let me look at your carpets.' When I said that my husband didn't feel well and didn't want to be disturbed, he left immediately. I was wondering, what is the scam and what are they up to?"

"I am not so sure that I want to go to Heaven, it would be boring. Is there any logic for a person to live forever? If I had to live forever I would be a very unhappy person. It would be like being sentenced for life."

"In reference to the 'granny cams' in nursing homes. I cannot believe all the support that is there when the cost to the nursing homes and the state, it's going to be atrocious. To truly have effective cams, you are going to have to have a cam over each and every bed. Then you are going to have the amendment, whatever amendment that says you have the right to privacy, it is going to be violated. You are going to have people who are going to take it to the Supreme Court. Yes, the security would be there, but it is going to cost us a lot of money."

"I see where the city wants to raise taxes. Wake up and see what this council is doing to you. Take a look at the money they are sinking into the fairgrounds and the money they are using to fix up that building. Why raise taxes, when we are already spending several thousand dollars fixing that building up? Come on people, speak up."

"In Monday's paper Tim Rowland had an article about the boot camps. We are so thankful for Tim's insight on the boot camp ordeal. Read the entire article Tim wrote and be thankful that we still have men of integrity like Tim."

"Why do so many men wear that circle the mouth beard? I see it every where, I think it's ugly and obnoxious."

- Boonsboro

"To the person in Wednesday's paper who wanted to know what to do about leg cramps. Try seltzer water. I have an elderly mother who has suffered from severe leg cramps for years and her doctor told her to drink seltzer water. After she started doing that for about three weeks, her leg cramps went away. Try drinking about four ounces, twice a day and that should help."

"I saw in Wednesday's Mail Call where someone said white peanut butter fudge is only white if you use white peanut butter. I have never seen white peanut butter, never heard of it. If this would have been put in Monday's paper, I probably would have thought it was an April Fool's joke, but I think someone is trying to pull my leg."

"To all Maryland Terps' fans everywhere. 'National Champs, Baby! Go Terps!'"

"I read the articles about and by Allan Platou. I've got one better than those. My mother talks to anyone, anywhere, about anything. (But she knows what she's talking about, Allan). But not just in passing or in a line, but for 45 minutes or in some cases for hours. She has talked to people at Sheetz, AC&T. In grocery stores, parks, restaurants, department stores, on the streets, anywhere you find people. I've been with her when a lady came up to her, her little girl wrapped around my mom's leg and they began talking. About 30 minutes later, we left and when I asked her who this lady was, she said she didn't know! This happens everywhere we go. All the time! People walk up to her in a store and they just start talking. I've been with her so many times that this has happened, I now always tell her NOT to talk to strangers."

"To the person with leg cramps, try potassium. Also, to the person who wants to get their phone numbers removed. Look in your phone book for solicitation phone calls, they have an address and what you need to send to have your number removed from the solicitation list."

"To the person who is having trouble with leg cramps. I used to have the same problem, but I went to taking two Vitamin E tablets a day, 400IU, after I started taking them, I had no more leg cramps."

"I want to thank the Smithsburg Lions Club for their wonderful park that they have in Smithsburg. My family and I really enjoy the park and we really appreciate it. It's a beautiful park, the playground equipment is very nice, particularly for the younger children. Thanks for sharing it with us."

"I am interested in the Collector Coca Cola bottles, my number is 301-491-3566."
