INWOOD, W.Va. - Berkeley Springs gained a little measure of revenge by defeating Musselman. The Applemen (8-2) had defeated the Indians in the finals of the Gene Baker memorial Tournament on Saturday.

Julie Scherpf struck out three and allowed four hits and one walk while recording her first varsity win. Jessica Detrick had four hits and three RBI, Amanda Willard had two hits and three runs scored and Cecile Lucchiani had two hits for Berkeley Springs (7-2).

Walkersville wins title

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Walkersville, No. 3 in The Herald-Mail Top 10, became the first Monocacy Valley Athletic League team to win the Frederick County Tournament, defeating Thomas Johnson, 11-4.

"The little guys actually won one," Walkersville's second-year coach Dorsey Gilbert said.

The Lions (3-0) scored three runs in the first inning, three in the second and four in the third to pull away from TJ (2-1). Ray Dorsey and Alex Dube each went 3-for-3 while Derek Krantz hit a three-run homer in the second inning.

Will Delawter had two doubles for TJ, No. 7 in the HM Top 10.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jesse Keyser's two-run double highlighted an eight-run fifth inning to lead Martinsburg to a victory by the 10-run rule.

The Bulldogs (4-3) sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth.

Brett Twigg and Colin Hitt each had two hits and drove in runs for the Bulldogs. Joey Yurish and Mike Ware also drove in runs.
