Rhuey M. Cromer


Rhuey M. Wolf Cromer, 89, formerly of 64 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Friday, March 29, 2002.

Born March 23, 1913, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Daniel R. and Mary Wolf.

Her husband of 47 years, H. Earl Cromer, died in 1985.

She and her late husband owned and operated the Variety Store in Hagerstown for more than 50 years.

She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.

She is survived by one brother, Harry D. Cromer of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Jennifer L. Fleming of Clear Spring, and Wendy N. Johnston and Diane L. Metz, both of Hagerstown; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, R. Natalie Johnston, in 1998; and one great-grandson.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Kenneth L. Valentine will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Wednesday one half-hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742; or to a charity of one's choice.




Beverly S. Littrell


MONT ALTO, Pa. - Beverly Sue Littrell, 40, of 111 Ash St., died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Sept. 14, 1961, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of Larue E. Bricker Sheaffer and the late Donald E. Sheaffer, who died Feb. 7, 2001.

She was a graduate of Waynesboro High School.

She was a machine operator at Waynesboro Manufacturing for a short time. Prior to retiring in 1999, she worked at Regency Thermographers, Waynesboro, for 20 years in various departments, and last as a press operator.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one brother, Richard D. Littrell of Rouzerville, Pa.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Roger K. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Mont Alto.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Brian H. Taber


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Brian Harold Taber, 43, of 221 E. Third St., died Friday, March 29, 2002, as the result of an accident in Woodward, Pa.

Born May 19, 1958, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Harold W. Taber Jr. and Lucile Henry Taber of Smithsburg. He lived his early life in Smithsburg.

He was a 1976 graduate of Smithsburg High School and attended James Madison University.

He was employed by Nardi Construction Inc. of Beltsville, Md., as a project manager for the past three years.

He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro.

He served on the Park Commission for the Borough of Waynesboro.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, E. Marie Farrell Taber, whom he married May 31, 1986; two daughters, Alexandra Mary Taber and Emily Sarah Taber, both at home; two sons, Christopher Brian Taber and Brendan Thomas Robert Taber, both at home; two sisters, Carol Tesla of Hagerstown, and Karen Crawford of Harrisburg, Pa.; one brother, Michael Taber of Myersville, Md.; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 112 N. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brian Taber Children's Fund, Center Square, Waynesboro, PA 17268.




Diane M. Embly


Diane Marie Embly, 60, of 10823 Coffman Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at her home.

Born Feb. 18, 1942, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Florence Bernadine Allen Blickenstaff of Hagerstown and the late Thomas Blickenstaff.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School teacher.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Mearl L. Embly; two daughters, Donna Eiland of Hagerstown, and Lisa Palmer of Boonsboro; one son, Timothy Embly of Knoxville, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Blickenstaff; and one grandson, Wesley Palmer.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marie B. Phillippy


WILLIAMSPORT - Marie Brumbaugh Phillippy, of 2750 Virginia Ave., died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Homewood at Williamsport.

Born Dec. 25, 1908, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Rhoda Summers Brumbaugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel L. Phillippy.
