Woman injured when trailer strikes vehicle

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A Chambersburg, Pa., woman was injured Monday when a trailer came loose from the car towing it and struck her vehicle, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Carl R. Addlesberger, of 465 E. Leitersburg St., Greencastle, was towing the trailer north on U.S. 11 near Greencastle when his car disengaged from the hitch and chains, causing the trailer to travel across the left turn lane and into the southbound lane of travel, police said.

The trailer hit a Jeep Cherokee driven by Nancy L. Stouffer, 3049 Crottlestown Road, Chambersburg, causing extensive damage to her vehicle and the trailer, police said.


Stouffer sustained significant injuries to her left leg, hip and abdomen, police said. She was taken to Chambersburg Hospital and later taken to York Hospital in York, Pa., where she was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit Tuesday night, a hospital spokesman said.

Addlesberger was not injured, police said.

Boonsboro Pharmacy's glass door smashed

BOONSBORO - The glass door of the Boonsboro Pharmacy was smashed Tuesday morning, Maryland State Police said.

The damage was found by Tpr. 1st Class R.O. Fraley around 5 a.m. The door was intact when he had made an earlier check at 1 a.m., police said.

The door to the business at 7628 Old National Pike appeared to have been kicked in, police said.
