The Myerses

Ralph and Mary Myers of Falling Waters, W.Va., celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, by renewing their wedding vows at Independent Bible Church in Hedgesville, W.Va., in a ceremony officiated by Pastor Mark Johnson.

The anniversary event was hosted by their children and spouses, Richard Myers of Williamsport, Vickie Weller of Sharpsburg, William Myers, Christinia Durboraw and Charmain Summers, all of Hagerstown, Cheryl Slonaker and Jane Lynch of Falling Waters and Mary SanCartier of Gig Harbor, Wash. Two children, Charlene Potts and Curtis Myers, are deceased. Many friends, neighbors and relatives attended the anniversary celebration.

Ralph Curtis Myers and Mary Christinia Knighten were married Dec. 7, 1946, at Hagerstown Bible Church on Summit Avenue by the Rev. H. Gomso.

They jointly owned and operated a janitorial business and the Koffee Korner Restaurant in Hagerstown for many years prior to their retirement.


They have 33 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

The McKinleys

Robert and Elizabeth McKinley of Fairplay were honored at a 50th wedding anniversary party at Four Points Sheraton in Hagerstown Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, hosted by Lisa Faith, Kathy Mertz and friends.

They also were honored at a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, hosted by David and Tonya Holmes at their home on Surrey Avenue. Many friends attended the event.

The McKinleys were married in Allegany County, Md., Feb. 2, 1952, at the home of Helen Wampler Scott, Mr. McKinley's aunt.

Mrs. McKinley is the former Elizabeth "Libby" Urbas, daughter of the late Anton and Therizia Lickar Urbas. She was formerly employed by Washington County Hospital.

Mr. McKinley is the son of the late Robert ad Alice Wampler McKinley. He retired from Allegheny Power with 35 years of service.

Both Mr. McKinley and Mrs. McKinley now serve as full-time pioneer ministers at West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hagerstown.

The McKinleys have three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Anita McKinley of Frederick, Md., Gregory and Bonnie McKinley of Hagerstown and Dwayne and Lesley McKinley of Crownsville, Md. Their two daughters, Theresa McKinley and Debra Kuzmen McKinley are both deceased. They also have 11 grandchildren.
