Robber hits Days Inn in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

March 21, 2002

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - A man pointed a gun at a front desk clerk at the Days Inn in Maddex Square early Wednesday and took an undetermined amount of money, said police.

The man approached the clerk at about 3:38 a.m. and demanded money from the employee, said Chief Deputy Jesse Jones of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

After getting the money, the robber fled in a rust-colored compact car, possibly a Ford Escort, parked near the entrance, Jones said.

The man drove away with his lights off and headed toward Martinsburg on W.Va. 45, Jones said.

The robber was described as being dark skinned and wearing blue jeans, a hooded sweatshirt and a black mask, he said.
