Shepherd men's tennis loses first match

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Shepherd College suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a 5-4 decision to Limestone College of South Carolina.

The Rams drop to 10-1.

Singles - 1. Alexander Grupp (L) d. Tim Halter 6-1, 6-3; 2. Rob Walker (L) d. Mike Farrell 6-2, 6-2; 3. Branko Banic (L) d. Scott Eyler 6-4, 7-6; 4. Thomas Bohrnstedt (S) d. Clint Manning 6-1, 6-4; 5. Brian Clarke (S) d. Matt Desena 6-2, 6-0; 6. Wray Sherman (S) d. Ryan Ross 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles - 1. Grupp-Walker (L) d. Bohrnstedt-Farrell 8-2; 2. Banic-Manning (L) d. Halter-Eric Stevenson 8-3; 3. Clarke-Sherman (S) d. Desena-Ross 8-3.

St. James 66, West End Baptist 49: Alan Moore scored 21 points to lead St. James to the league's tournament championship. Brad Moore and Eric Taylor each added 13 points as St. James finished with a 14-0 record. Ashley Shook and Tony Harnish each scored 14 points for West End Baptist.

West End Baptist 64, Dargan 56: Chris Cline scored 20 points and Ashley Shook scored 19 points to lead West End Baptist to a semifinal victory. Brian Shoemaker scored 22 points for Dargan.

St. James 73, Nazarene 43: St. James advance to the finals as Eric Taylor scored 16 points and Mike McCauley scored 13 points. Nazarene was led by Tim Troxell with 11 points.
