Peggy M. Gooden


FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Peggy Marie Gooden, 63, of Falling Waters, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, in City Hospital, in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Dec. 5, 1938, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Amos McKinley Sr. and Bessie Lee Barrett Orr.

She had been employed by Interwoven Mills; and with her husband owned and operated RBM Security.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Preston B. Gooden; three daughters, Terri Nahari of Brick, N.J., and Gail Gooden and Dawn Cole, both of Martinsburg; one son, Randall Gooden of Martinsburg; one sister, Theresa Jane Gooden of Thurmont, Md.; one brother, Wendell Orr of Martinsburg; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angel Marie Gooden; three sisters, Thelma Beasley, Evelyn Johnson and Annabelle Loy; five brothers, Amos Orr Jr., Kenny Orr, Clyde Orr, Charles Orr and an infant brother; and one niece.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Oscar Motilal will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Gertrude M. Whisner


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gertrude Mae "Trudy" Oates Whisner, 77, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at her home.

Born Dec. 24, 1924, in Burlington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Burzy Sr. and Orpha Logston Oates.

She was a graduate of Keyser (W.Va.) High School, and City Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

She was a member and past Worthy Matron of Golden Rule Chapter 69, O.E.S.; and was past president of District 6, W.Va. Nursing Association.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Alvin W. "Bud" Whisner; one sister, Edith Gardner of Keyser; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary; and three brothers, Burzy Oates Jr., George Oates and Samson Oates.

Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Entombment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be conducted by the O.E.S. at 7:30 p.m.

Charlotte T. Young


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charlotte T. Young, 74, of Martinsburg, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Oct. 8, 1927, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Sr. and Alice Stuckey Tederick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Decatur E. Young Jr.

She was a 1945 graduate of Hedgesville High School, and was class valedictorian.

She was a member of Tomahawk Christian Church.

She is survived by one son, Decatur E. Young III of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one daughter, Ruth Gosnell of Martinsburg; four grandchildren whom she raised, Melissa Young, Marleen Young, Marsha Kelley and Alice Wilson; and one brother, Paul Tederick of Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Violet Fouch; and one brother, Alonzo Tederick Jr.

Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Lee Ashley will officiate. Burial will be in New Norborne Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.




Gary L. Baldwin


MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Gary Lee Baldwin, 54, of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, as a result of a traffic accident on Rt. 15 South, Cumberland Township, Pa.

Born April 27, 1947, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of Martha Schreffler Baldwin of Hummelstown, Pa., and the late Charles Baldwin.

He was employed as an associate at The Square D Company, Mechanicsburg.

He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam.

He was a member of Mechanicsburg American Legion Post 109, and Hummelstown VFW Post 1687.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda M. Myrick Baldwin; three sons, Shawn A. Murray of Norfolk, Va., Gary Lee Baldwin Jr. of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Daniel A. Murray of Gainesville, Va.; a daughter, Sharon Baldwin of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, Pa.

Visitation will be Friday at noon at the funeral home.




Robert L. Renner


NEWVILLE, Pa. - Robert L. Renner, 79, of Newville, and formerly of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Carlisle (Pa.) Hospital.

Born in St. Joseph, Mo., he was the son of the late Lawrence and Maude McMillin Renner.

He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a civil engineer.

He served in World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
