Clear spring well dries up

March 13, 2002|BY MARK KELLER

Clear Spring's water woes increased Tuesday as the second of the town's four wells went dry.

Clear Spring Mayor Paul Hose Jr. made the announcement at Tuesday night's annual tax set-off meeting with the Washington County Board of Commissioners at Hancock Town Hall.

"We're down to two wells now," Hose said.

The failure of the first well prompted town officials to seek voluntary water conservation from its customers and the response has been positive, Hose said.

With the second failure, more drastic efforts may be required.

"We'll get through this," said Commissioner President Gregory I. Snook. "In the meantime, we all need to pray for rain."
