Frostburg State to host summer volleyball school
Frostburg State University will hold the FSU Volleyball School for two weeks this summer at the Harold J. Cordts Physical Education Center on the FSU campus.
An individual skills camp will be held July 28-Aug. 1, followed by a team camp Aug. 4-8. The school will be directed by FSU coach Jeff Billington.
The school will offer instruction in fundamental mechanics. Counselors will focus on team play.

Morning softball league seeking teams
The Halfway Morning Softball League is seeking teams for the 2002 season. Teams play 24 games in the regular season, which runs from May to August and all games are played at Marty Snook Park.
All games begin at 9 a.m. Cash payouts for regular season and postseason tournament champions.

Sunday softball league seeking teams
The Tri-State Sunday Softball League will hold a meeting March 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Pikeside Bowling Alley in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Teams wishing to play in the league should have a representative in attendance. Teams play doubleheaders each Sunday at sites in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Three slo-pitch tourneys coming to Fannettsburg
The Fannettsburg (Pa.) Ruritan Fields will be the site of three slo-pitch softball tournaments in April.
USSSA Class E bracket tournaments will be held April 6-7 and April 27-28. A USSSA Class D bracket tournament will be held April 13-14.
For each tournament, teams are guaranteed three games. Top two teams from each bracket advance to double elimination. ASA and NSA teams may play down one class if they have a .500 record or less.
Entry fee for each tournament is $160 plus a $20 sanctioning fee. Teams hit their own .47-core balls.

Piney Run Park hosting fishing tournament
The 20th Annual Early Bird Fishing Tournament will be held March 30 at Piney Run Park in Carroll County, Md.
The tournament offers $20,000 in prize money, including 15 tagged fish worth $1,000 each. Species to be caught for cash prizes include striped bass, trout, crappie, perch, catfish, bluegill and tiger musky. A trophy will be awarded for the largest fish caught.
Entry fee is $30 per shore angler and $35 per boat angler. Park gates will open at 4 a.m., with fishing permitted from 6 until noon.
