Virginia L. Stevens


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Virginia L. Stevens, 83, of Martinsburg, who died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at City Hospital, was preceded in death by a son, Robert F. Jackson.




Ralph W. Faulder


BOONSBORO - Ralph Waldo Faulder, 93, of Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village, and formerly of 303 Key Ave. in Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

He retired in 1973 from Fairchild Industries after 33 years.




Evern L. Friel


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Evern L. "Lud" Friel, 91, of 502 S. Potomac St., and formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Monday, March 4, 2002, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born June 14, 1910, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret Ellen Morrison Friel.

He attended school in Cumberland.

He was employed as a police officer in Waynesboro, and worked at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, retiring in 1960. He owned and operated Friel's Cycle Shop, Waynesboro, from 1947 to 1977.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1926 to 1930, and served in China with the China Expeditionary Force. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, then entered the U.S. Army and served with the 65th Infantry Division, Third Army. He was wounded March 15, 1945, at Saarbrucken, Germany.

He was a member of Waynesboro Bible Church.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Chambersburg and Hagerstown; National AARP; and AARP South Chapter 2977, Waynesboro.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean E. Brubaker Friel; two daughters, Cheryl D. Dale and Roxy L. Friel, both of Waynesboro; a son, Michael J. Friel of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three children, Sharon R. Friel, David B. Friel and Thomas A. Friel; and a granddaughter, Roxanna L. Friel.

Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Robert Fitz will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, with military honors by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Waynesboro Bible Church, 8216 Stottlemyer Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268; or Child Evangelism Fellowship of Franklin County, 45 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.




Agoro K. Tsigarithras


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Agoro K. Tsigarithras, 85, of 114 S. Main St., died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born March 23, 1916, in Neohorion, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas T. and Vassiliki Mazias Balafoutas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Konstantinos Tsigarithras.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Camp Hill, Pa.

She is survived by one brother, Demitrios Balafoutas of Greece; two sisters, Pelagia Sideras and Irini Masgalas, both of Chambersburg; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Orthodox Church, 2063 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg. Fathers Paul Keriotis and Costas P. Keares will officiate. Burial will be in Neohorion Nafpactias, Greece.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.




Albert G. Diegelman Jr.


McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Albert G. Diegelman Jr., 76, of 405 N. Third St., died Monday, March 4, 2002, at Fulton County Medical Center.

Born June 6, 1925, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Albert G. Diegelman and Nellie Reilly Bittner.

He was an accountant for several companies.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, McConnellsburg.

He was a member of Mercersburg VFW, McConnellsburg American Legion Post 561, McConnellsburg Lions Club, and Mt. Zion Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Arlene Chesnut Diegelman, of Alterra Nursing Home, Chambersburg, whom he married Nov. 16, 1946; a daughter, Joyce Carbaugh of McConnellsburg; a son, Albert G. Diegelman III of McConnellsburg; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a grandchild.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, McConnellsburg. The Rev. Henry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery with military honors by the Fulton County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 2 p.m.

Yvonne R. Moossy


SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Yvonne Reese Moossy, 74, of Shepherdstown, and formerly of Magnolia, Miss., and Franklinton, La., died of complications from breast cancer Sunday, March 3, 2002.

Born Oct. 11, 1927, in McComb, Miss., she was the daughter of James Otis and Jewette Mulkey Reese.

She received a B.S. in nursing from Louisiana State University and The Charity Hospital of New Orleans in 1951. She received a master of library and information science from the University of Pittsburgh.
