CLEAR SPRING, Md. - A 92-year-old Clear Spring man was injured in a single-car accident Saturday night, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

Steward Allen Ramsburg was driving a 1990 Dodge southbound on Independence Road at 9:45 p.m. when he swerved to avoid debris on the roadway, the department said. When he swerved, he hit a concrete embankment. The vehicle then slid down the embankment, the department said.

The accident happened on Independence Road about 100 yards north of U.S. 40, the department said.

He was taken to Washington County Hospital, where he was treated and released.

He was not charged in the accident.




FUNKSTOWN, Md. - A two-car accident Saturday afternoon left four people injured, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

Matthew Robert Howard, 20, of Williamsport, was driving a 1982 Dodge on Frederick Street over a bridge crossing Antietam Creek in Funkstown when he crossed into the other lane and hit a 1986 Volkswagen Golf driven by Eric John Plum, 26, of Greencastle, Pa., the department said.

Plum and his passenger, Jodi Lea Shockey, 29, also of Greencastle, and Howard and his passenger, Kassandra Renee Bricker, 18, of Frederick, Md., were all taken to Washington County Hospital, the department said.

All were treated and released from the hospital.

Howard was charged with failure to control speed to avoid a collision, the department said.




FREDERICK, Md. - Members of the Frederick Police Department's Drug Enforcement Unit arrested two people Saturday night.

Montrey Coral Bowie, 21, of the 500 block of Franklin Street, Hagerstown, was charged with distribution of cocaine, two counts of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and two counts of possession of cocaine, Frederick Police said.

William Curtis Hicks, 43, of the 1200 block of Stillmeadow Place, Frederick, was charged with possession of cocaine and driving on a suspended license, Frederick Police said.

They were arrested after a drug enforcement unit member saw an alleged drug transaction.
