Mail Call for 2/27

February 28, 2002

"I see in the Annapolis section in Monday's Daily Mail, the house passed a bill, letting people shoot bears in Maryland, if they 'The people deem those bears a nuisance.' The barking dogs next door are a nuisance, can I shoot them? The cats that ruin my flowers are a nuisance, can I shoot them? The red-tailed hawk that killed one of my rabbits is a nuisance, can I shoot it? Better yet, why stop at nuisance animals, can I block off my street because of the nuisance traffic problem? I think we should let the Annapolis lawmakers make thousands and thousands more nuisance laws because if it is one thing that Marylanders need is more laws and regulations. If you want more laws, please contact House Speaker, Cas Taylor, Democrat, Allegany County."

"I read an article in the paper about the tavern in Clear Spring not being able to expand. I am not a drinker, but the tavern has been there ever since I can remember and if there was one special reason it could have been expanded, why can't it be now."

"I want to know why they won't repave Interstate 81."

"The next time you see a truck driver, give them a wave, a friendly wave and think about what he has to do for you and think of what he is delivering for you, in order for you to live a decent life. In order for you to buy groceries, purchase new furniture or a new car. If it wasn't for the trucks, you would have nothing. I am not just saying that because I am married to one, I am saying that because he is the one that enables you to live and have a decent life. By the way, I am a woman."

"On Feb. 14, I stopped at the AC & T gas station on Dual Highway. I had a sugar attack, the women in the store saw what was going on and came to my aid right away. They sat me on a chair, got me some orange juice and worked with me until I was OK. I want to thank all those ladies. They were very good to me. They really acted like they cared. I thank them and God bless them."

"Concerning the mascot for the Boonsboro High School. I am an alumnus at Boonsboro High and have a family history of Indian Native relatives. My uncle used to call me when I was in high school to check on the Warriors because he was proud that we were using the symbol of the Warrior, strong and dignified. I think they need to check this out before they go changing their name."

"In regards to the Winter Street parking. Give it up already. There are no school buses that ride to that school and drop the kids off. A lot of times the parents are at work and the baby-sitters are the ones that drop off and pick up more than one kid. Leave the kids alone, leave the parents alone and mind your own business."
