Area Roundup - Frederick makes 4A East final

FREDERICK, Md. - Kristal Hood used her seven steals effectively to score 15 points, including 11 in the first half, to lift Frederick into Friday's Class 4A East finals with a 67-46 victory over Glen Burnie on Wednesday night.

Frederick (21-3) used 16 steals to hold off Glen Burnie, pushing off to a 55-28 lead after three quarters.

Jen Andrews finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Chelsea Reidy had 12 points and seven assists.

The Cadets host Chesapeake for the region title on Friday at 7 p.m.

National Christian 73, St. John's-Prospect Hall 64: At Fort Washington, the Vikings' Al Sanchez hit a 3 with a minute left in regulation to force overtime, but fouled out on a controversial first play of the extra period, and the Vikings couldn't recover.

St. John's (23-10) hit nine 3-pointers against the Eagles' zone defense, but couldn't find the bucket in overtime. Guyvans Richard led the way with 17 points, Aaron White added 16 and Sanchez finished with nine. Manolo Sanchez also had nine points; he, Richard and Al Sanchez all hit three 3-pointers.
