ROXBURY, Pa. - A Shippensburg, Pa., man was charged with driving under the influence and his passenger flown to the hospital following a two-car accident Sunday morning, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Steven John Miner, 21, was driving northbound on Pa. 641 approaching the peak of Timmons Mountain when he allegedly turned in the path of a southbound vehicle in an attempt to reach a pull-off at the top of the mountain, police said.

The second vehicle, driven by William R. Vanscyoc, 42, of Pleasant Hall, Pa., struck the passenger side of Miner's vehicle, police said.

Miner's passenger, Bryan Eyer, 21, of Shippensburg, was flown to York (Pa.) Hospital where he was listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Miner was charged with driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.




CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A two-car collision in Greene Township Saturday afternoon injured one woman, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said the driver of a 2000 Mercury Sable failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Brindle and Woodstock roads and struck a 1995 Jeep shortly before 2:30 p.m., police said.

The driver of the Jeep, Deborah K. Lensbower, 45, of Chambersburg, was treated at Chambersburg Hospital, police said.

Phyllis L. Smeltzer, 64, of Martinsburg, W.Va., the driver of the Mercury, and her passenger, John K. Smeltzer, 67, were not injured, police said.
