Gary L. Moser


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Gary Lynn Moser, 45, of 137 E. Baltimore St., died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Waynesboro Hospital in Waynesboro, Pa.

Born March 30, 1956, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Gerald Leonard Moser and Betty Jane Jenkins Harrison, both of Hagerstown.

He attended Greencastle Church of the Brethren and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Hagerstown.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles, both in Waynesboro, and had a black belt in tae kwan do.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Debbie Blair Moser; six daughters, Kelly Lynn Moser of Hagerstown, Stacey Nicole Greenwalt of Alabama, Sherry Lynn Alger of Martinsburg, W.Va., Betty Jane Moser and Jenny Lee Moser, both of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Jasmine Mariah Wingerd of Hagerstown; a son, Gary Lynn Moser III of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Christina Sowers of Hagerstown; a stepson, James Sowers of Hagerstown; three sisters, Pamela Resseger and Catherine Stoner, both of Hagerstown, and Beverly Jane Hose of Clear Spring; a brother, David Moser of Charles Town, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lynn Moser II.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. John C. Koontz Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Joan R. James


BALTIMORE - Joan Rebecca James, 69, of Stella Maris Hospice, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Stella Maris Hospice.

She was a 1950 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

She worked for C&P Telephone Co., where she wore roller skates to improve workplace efficiency. She also worked for 22 years for the Smoot family at Guardian Moving and Storage in Baltimore.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hagerstown.

She is survived by a son, John James of Monroe, Mich.; seven siblings, Josephine E. Flook of Myersville, Md., Donna Pattison of Jacksonville, Fla., and Richard R. Flook, Ronald E. Flook, Renfred P. Flook, Joe Showe and Carol Cook, all of Hagerstown; a grandson; nieces; nephews; and her former husband, Gary James.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Flook.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Chapel, Smithsburg. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, Md.

Memorial donations may be made to Stella Maris Hospice, 2300 Dulaney Valley Road, Timonium, MD 21093.

Mildred I. Dockeney


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mildred I. Dockeney, 78, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at the home of her son.

Born May 8, 1923, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Vanorsdale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin L. Dockeney Sr.

She retired from National Fruit.

She was a member of Greensburg United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Pattie Waldron of Berkeley County, W.Va.; four sons, Terrance R. Dockeney of Florida, Wayne E. Dockeney of Jefferson County, W.Va., and Stephen L. Dockeney and Douglas P. Dockeney, both of Berkeley County; five sisters, Lelesta Underwood, Delores Talbott, Beverly Clark and Phyllis Vanorsdale, all of Martinsburg, and Mary Lee Underwood of New Jersey; four brothers, Thomas E. Vanorsdale of Baltimore, Ralph W. Vanorsdale, Richard L. Vanorsdale and Joseph G. Vanorsdale, all of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin L. Dockeney Jr.; a sister, Madeline Foltz; and two brothers, John W. Vanorsdale and Vernon Vanorsdale.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. John Yost will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Anna B. Puffinberger


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Anna Belle Puffinberger, 78, of 402 S. Illinois Ave., died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born June 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Granville E. and Nettie P. Graham.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Dick, and her second husband, Alonzo Puffinberger Jr.

She was a graduate of Bunker Hill High School and Strayer College.

She taught at Stonewall Elementary School and, for 40 years, was corporation secretary for Smith and Nadenbousch Insurance Co.

She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

She was a member of many community organizations.

She is survived by two sisters, Martha Mauck of Bristow, Va., and Julia Barkley of Martinsburg.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Revs. Curtis Wheeler and Louise Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
