Hagerstown city clerk resigns
Hagerstown City Clerk Anna Pennesi resigned Tuesday, and plans to move to Tennessee.
"I'm glad that I had the opportunity to experience government work," said Pennesi, who became city clerk in July 2000.
Pennesi said she quit after "learning of the opportunity to relocate" to Tennessee.
"Anna has done a nice job streamlining procedures," City Administrator Bruce Zimmerman said.
As city clerk, Pennesi attended all Mayor and City Council meetings, prepared minutes of those meetings, updated the city code to reflect new legislation, and was responsible for maintenance of all official documents, resolutions, ordinances and records of city business.
Zimmerman said he hopes to hire a new city clerk by May.
City Human Resources Director Donna Messina said the new city clerk will be paid $34,091 to $43,917 a year.
Pennesi's annual salary was $41,558, Messina said.
