Accident shuts down traffic on U.S. 15

FREDERICK, Md. - Traffic on U.S. 15 south of U.S. 340 was shut down for one hour Friday night due to a car accident, Maryland State Police said.

The accident was on northbound 15 north of Mountainville Road in Frederick County, police said.

While driving a green Hyundai Elantra, Aaron Jason Poyer, 25, of Frederick, was attempting to pass a tractor trailer, police said.

Poyer's car struck a silver Lincoln Town Car driven by Jeanne Marie Beall, 51, of Mt. Airy, Md., with the driver's side of the Hyundai striking the driver's side front wheel of the Lincoln, police said.

The Lincoln struck a guardrail and became airborne, police said. The car landed on the opposite of the guardrail on the roof, police said.


Beall and passenger Daniel Lee Beall, 49, were flown to the Washington County Hospital. Jeanne Beall was listed in fair condition at the hospital. Daniel Beall was treated and released.

Poyer was taken by ambulance to the hospital but was treated and released.

Poyer was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, police said.

Man charged with DUI in two-car accident

FREDERICK, Md. - An adult and child were flown by helicopter to hospitals after a two-car accident on Md. 28 east of Point of Rocks at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Maryland State Police reported.

The driver of one of the vehicles, William Lease, 31, of Dickerson, Md., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

According to police, the accident happened when a 1994 BMW driven by Dwight Baker, 44, of Brunswick, Md., attempted to pass a 1993 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Lease.

The cars collided and the Camaro went off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.

The BMW also went off the right side of the road, then went across the road and struck a guardrail on the left side of the road.

Both drivers had minor injuries, police said.

Wesley Harrison Sr., 33, and Wesley Harrison Jr., 9, no addresses given, were passengers in the Camaro. They were taken to Baltimore or Washington, D.C. hospitals by helicopter, police said.

Police did not know their conditions.

Jewelry stolen in Birch Drive burglary

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A Birch Drive home in Todd Township was burglarized sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Pennsylvania State Police reported.

Jewelry was taken from the home, police said.

Police: Traffic stop yields pound of marijuana

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - After stopping a car for a window tint violation on South Queen Street in Martinsburg Thursday, police found more than a pound of marijuana hidden in the car, the Martinsburg Police Department reported.

The driver, Jason Cosner, 20, of Inwood, W.Va., and passenger, Anthony Dokes, 22, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., were arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Cosner was released on $26,000 bond. Dokes was released on $25,000 bond, police said.

According to police, at about 3:15 p.m. Thursday, police stopped a white Dodge Stealth in the 600 block of Queen Street because of a window tint violation.

Police said the driver had a suspended license.

Police asked to search the vehicle and the driver agreed.

During the search, police found a small amount of marijuana in a backpack.

Then police had a drug dog search the car.

The dog pointed police to the middle console of the car.

The console was removed and police found more than a pound of marijuana there, police said.
