Quick action by firefighters saves barn in Jefferson County
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Quick action by volunteer firefighters saved much of a barn that caught fire at 807 Euclid Ave. Sunday afternoon, a fire official said.
About 25 firefighters who responded to the scene quickly extinguished the fire that was located just inside the doors of the building, Lt. Tyree Kable of the Independent Fire Co. said.
The fire was contained to a floor area and the doors, Kable said.
As a farmer, Kable said he can appreciate the work of the firefighters. When barns catch fire, they usually burn to the ground, he said.
It is not clear what started the fire, Kable said. No one was around the building when it started, he said.
