Amanda McGhee had 18 points, seven steals, six rebounds and four assists Tuesday to lead North Hagerstown over Williamsport 42-29 in a Monocacy Valley Athletic League girls basketball game.

"I don't think that we have been playing up to our potential during the last few games," McGhee said. "But tonight, we came out with more intensity. We wanted to come out and get on top, instead of working from behind. We just played harder on defense tonight."

Allison Hammond pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds for North Hagerstown (12-7, 9-6).

The Hubs outscored the Wildcats 15-8 during the second quarter to build a 25-14 halftime lead. They expanded their lead to 37-20 at the end of the third quarter.

"We focus on our defense all the time," North Hagerstown coach Helen Mency said. "The girls came out and played well defensively. We also took better care of the ball tonight."

The Hubs had just seven turnovers, including just one in the first half.

Alex Gogin finished with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Lindsey Plotner added nine points and 10 rebounds for Williamsport (6-14, 4-12). Jackie Hamilton had 12 rebounds and Jess Clingan had eight rebounds.

"They have more experience than we do," Williamsport coach Curtis Graff said. "They put five seniors on the floor, while we put four sophomores and one junior out there. That was the difference in the game."
