Irene C. Grove


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Irene C. Grove, 71, of 30 N. Church St., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born March 27, 1930, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Ira C. Grove Sr. and Sarah Blanche Decker Grove.

She was a 1948 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

She was a shipping clerk at Frick Co. in Waynesboro, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro.

She was a member of the American Rose Society, and the National AARP.

She is survived by four sisters, M. LaRue Grove, Marion E. Corey and Jean G. Hull, all of Waynesboro, and Frances G. Pulzone of Callao, Va.; a brother, Ira C. Grove Jr. of Waynesboro; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Richard A. Seaks will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Friday at noon at the funeral home.

Fannie M. Rock


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Fannie M. Rock, 91, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 2392 Philadelphia Ave., died Monday Jan. 28, 2002, at the home.

Born July 16, 1910, in Roxbury, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Esther Alleman Lytle.

Her husband, Harry W. Rock, died March 31, 1992. They were married in June 1935.

She graduated with the last graduating class of the Chambersburg Hospital School of Nursing in 1932.

A registered nurse, she had been employed by Chambersburg Hospital and Menno Haven, and had done private duty nursing.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.

She was a volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Bank; a member of Martha Custis Chapter 342 Order of the Eastern Star in Chambersburg, and was a former deputy with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department.

She is survived by one daughter, Esther Kramer of New Cumberland, Pa.; one granddaughter, Jody Corbett of Enola, Pa.; one grandson, Douglas K. Kramer of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Blanche Myers; and one brother, Wilbur J. Lytle.

Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg. The Rev. Donald C. Nolder will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to American Red Cross, Professional Arts Building, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Dorothy C. Palmer


GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Dorothy C. Palmer, 85, of Gettysburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Village and Home.

Born Dec. 2, 1916, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ralph D. and Louise E. Yeager Ridgely.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Palmer, in 1979.

She retired from Doubleday Inc. in Hanover after 27 years.

She was a member of Lohr's Memorial United Methodist Church in Hanover, Pa.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Cuddy; and a brother, Joseph Ridgely.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Kenworthy Funeral Home, Hanover. The Rev. Logan G. Swanger will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.

Visitation will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Evelyn R. Stull


COLUMBUS, Ohio - Evelyn R. King Stull, 93, of 5757 Ponderosa Drive, and formerly of 13290 Gates Lane, Waynesboro, Pa., died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Friendship Village in Columbus.

Born Oct. 10, 1908, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Alice King.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark McKean Stull, in 1997. They were married July 19, 1930.

She was a 1924 graduate of Washington Township High School.

From 1957 until retiring in 1973, she worked as a licensed practical nurse at the former Samuel Dixon State Hospital, now South Mountain Restoration Center, in South Mountain, Pa.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean Blattenberger of Mercersburg, Pa.; two sons, Lorren L. Stull and Gary E. Stull, both of Worthington, Ohio; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert King.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Jay E. Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.




Fred L. Murray


ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Fred Leroy Murray, 68, of 243 Schoolhouse Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at his home.

Born Dec. 20, 1933, he was the son of the late Charles William and Emma Jane Yeager Murray.
