The Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Co. Saturday night honored three long-time volunteer firefighters, including Jason Baer, who is also the president of the Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association.

This year marks 50 years each of volunteer work at the company by Baer and Charles Shindle Sr., Chief Phil Ridenour said during the company's annual awards banquet.

The company also honored David Baer who has been a volunteer with the company for 30 years. The two Baers are not related.

David Baer was among those thanking Shindle and Jason Baer for their years of service.

"Thank you for your years of friendship, years of leadership and dedication," he said.

Jason Baer and Shindle were presented with resolutions from the Maryland House of Delegates and the Senate honoring their years of work. Sen. Don Munson, R-Washington, handed them the resolutions personally.
