Judge orders man to wear hugs pin during probation

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Franklin County judge on Wednesday ordered a Greencastle, Pa., man to wear a "Hugs Never Drugs" pin during the year he is on probation for possessing drug paraphernalia.

Timothy Alan Hall, 19, of 205 N. Linden Ave., had pleaded guilty to possession of paraphernalia after police found a spoon with heroin residue in the car he was riding in during a traffic stop last year, according to court records.

Judge John Walker sentenced Hall to 12 months probation and a $300 fine. As a condition of probation he ordered Hall to wear the "Hugs Never Drugs" pin on the outside of his clothing at all times.

"If you don't wear your badge, or you come up with new charges, I'm putting you in jail," Walker said.

Walker, who wears the pins on his own coats, had Hall don the pin while in the courtroom.

Hall was arrested Aug. 22, when a Greencastle police officer stopped the car in which he was riding for running a stop sign and noticed the spoon on the floor of the car, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
