Funkstown Council to abandon right-of-way

The Funkstown Town Council agreed Monday to abandon a never-used right-of-way so that the owner of the Starlite Inn can expand and improve his property.

Chris Schultz recently renovated the Starlite Inn's interior and wants to work on improving the parking lot to the property on Frederick Street.

The right-of-way is at the rear of the Starlite Inn, he said.

Since the unused right-of-way was abandoned by the town, Schultz would be able to unify the Starlite Inn property with land he owns nearby.

Schultz's request was advertised in the newspaper and Monday was the third time he had gone before Town Council about the right-of-way.

A brief public hearing was held during a break in the regular meeting Monday in case the public wanted to speak on the record about the right-of-way.

No one in the audience asked to speak during the public hearing.
