School Board considers redistricting options



The Washington County Board of Education will decide Tuesday which of the following redistricting options to bring to a final vote later this month:

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Extend the Funkstown school district north to Washington County Hospital and behind Ames, sending 35 Eastern Elementary School students to Funkstown Elementary School.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Send 45 Eastern Elementary students from the East Franklin and Cannon Avenue areas to Pangborn Boulevard Elementary School.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Extend the Potomac Heights school district one block southwest to include a portion of Randolph Avenue, sending 45 Eastern students to Potomac Heights Elementary School.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Send 38 students from Potomac Heights who live on Oak Hill Avenue and Hamilton Boulevard to Fountaindale Elementary School.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Extend the Fountaindale Elementary school district northeast by several blocks, making room for 25 students from Paramount Elementary School.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Extend the line for South Hagerstown High School north to include the Salem Avenue and Winter Street elementary school districts, sending 220 North Hagerstown High School students to South Hagerstown High School.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Include the area north of Roxbury Road to Antietam Creek, northeast to U.S. 40 Alternate, then north to the current South High boundary, sending nine Boonsboro High School students to South High.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Move 36 students from Williamsport Elementary to Fountain Rock Elementary School.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Extend the boundary line of Boonsboro High School to encompass the area whose western boundary is the Norfolk-Southern rail line, north to Roxbury Road, sending 80 Williamsport High School students to Boonsboro High School.

Move the boundary of the Clear Spring High School attendance line to the east of Cedar Ridge Road, sending 14 students from Williamsport High School to Clear Spring High School.
