Hagerstown man charged in stabbing

A Hagerstown man was charged with first-degree assault Saturday after his former girlfriend was stabbed in the face with a butcher knife, Hagerstown City Police said.

George Kevin Saunders is accused of stabbing the woman who resided at 610 Adams Ave. in Hagerstown with a large butcher knife at about 2:45 a.m. before fleeing on foot shortly before police arrived to investigate a domestic dispute, police said.

Officers chased Saunders on foot and caught him in the 300 block of Frederick Street. He was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, police said.

The woman was treated at Washington County Hospital and released, police said.

Saunders, 36, of 63 W. Franklin St., Apt. 202, was being held on $20,000 bond Saturday at the Washington County Detention Center, police said.

Pa. woman injured in two-vehicle crash

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg woman was injured late Friday in a two-vehicle collision on Sollenberger Road at Lincoln Way West, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg.

Anne Michelle True, 33, was driving a 1989 Pontiac south on Sollenberger Road west of Chambersburg at about 11 p.m. when she stopped at the intersection of Lincoln Way West. She then pulled out and into the path of a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling on that road, police alleged.

The driver of the pickup, Ricky Lee Strawbridge, was unable to stop in time to avoid striking True's vehicle, police said.

True was taken to Chambersburg Hospital before being flown to a trauma center in York, Pa., police said.

There was no information available about True at Memorial Hospital in York, York Hospital or Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, spokeswomen at those facilities said Saturday.

Neither True nor a passenger in her car, Howard E. Robison, was wearing seat belts, police said.

Robison, 33, suffered minor injuries, police said.

Strawbridge, 27, of St. Thomas, Pa., and his passenger, Kimberly A. Oller, 26, were uninjured. They were wearing seat belts, police said.

The accident was under investigation Saturday.

Four cars stolen, others burglarized

FREDERICK, Md. - Four cars were stolen and numerous vehicles burglarized along U.S. 40 in Frederick on Saturday, according to the Frederick Police Department.

One Acura Integra and three Honda Civics were stolen from an apartment complex parking lot between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m., police said.

Car stereos, amplifiers and speakers were removed from other vehicles in the same area, police said.
