Elmer J. Horst


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Elmer J. Horst, 84, of 2868 State Line Road, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at his home of cancer.

Born Sept. 29, 1917, in Maugansville, he was the son of the late Harvey B. and Barbara Ann Martin Horst.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of nine years, Mary G. Showalter Horst, in 1948.

He was a dairy farmer. During his retirement, he reupholstered furniture.

He was a member of Paradise Mennonite Church in Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Horst Horst, whom he married Dec. 1, 1949; five daughters, Lois M. Burkholder of Manchester, Ky., Elsie R. Eby, Ruby M. Martin and Hazel F. Martin, all of Hagerstown and Linda K. Martin of Clear Spring; three sons, J. Lester Horst of London, Ky., Lloyd E. Horst of Waynesboro, Pa. and Dale L. Horst of Hagerstown; a brother, Joe P. Horst of Maugansville; 33 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Reiff Mennonite Church near Cearfoss. Darrel Martin, Shelley Graybill, Enos Rudolph and Wilmer Eby will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa.; and Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the church.

The family requests the omission of flowers.




Terry A. Bryner


BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Terry Allen "Ted" Bryner, 53, of Berkeley Springs, who died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, served in the U.S. Navy from May 21, 1968 until his honorable discharge on May 20, 1974.

He was a Protestant.

He is survived by a son, Sean L. Bryner of Greenbelt, Md.




Henry C. Gilbert


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Henry C. "Hank" Gilbert, 73, of 1103 Marvern Drive, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Nov. 11, 1928, in Oswego, N.Y., he was the son of the late Clarence and Myrtle Feeney Gilbert.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Menter Gilbert, in 1967.

He worked at the former James River Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

He was a member of Local Order of the Moose 842; Hume-McNeal-Byers Post 224 Amvets; Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW; Burt J. Apser Post 46 American Legion; Franklin Fire Company Station 4; Landis-McCleaf Detachment Marine Corps League 802, all of Chambersburg; and Dietrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion of St. Thomas, Pa.

He is survived by eight children, Mary Ellen Coldsmith of Fayetteville, Pa., Michael R. Gilbert of Oswego, N.Y., Jeanne Besecker of Quincy, Pa., Theresa A. Trace of Chambersburg, Timothy A. Gilbert of Fairbanks, Alaska, Christine L. Dubbs of Chambersburg, Ronald P. Gilbert of Chambersburg, Susan M. Gilbert of Chambersburg, a sister, Mary Nipper of Fulton, N.Y.; two brothers, Kenneth Gilbert of Fulton and Louis Gilbert of Martville, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and a grandchild.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Rodrigo Arra'zola will officiate. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Catholic Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.




Kevin D. Nuckoles


Kevin David Nuckoles, 48, of 424 N. Locust St., Apt. 3, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at his home.

Born Nov. 21, 1953, in Anchorage, Alaska, he was the son of the late James David and Barbara Estep Nuckoles.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by a sister, Jean Nuckoles-Guenter of Sharpsburg; and a brother, Robert Nuckoles of Underwood, Wash.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Nuckoles.

There will be no viewing.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport.




Michael A. Davidson


GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Michael Anthony Davidson, 40, of Gerrardstown, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Oct. 12, 1961, in Texas, he was the son of Wilburn Davidson of Mississippi and the late Joan Davidson.

He was a counselor at ARC in Hagerstown.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Amber Stewart Davidson of Gerrardstown; two daughters, Sabrina Davidson and Kelli Davidson, both at home; and two sons, Jesse Davidson and Christopher Davidson, both at home.

Services and burial will be private.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.




Rose M. Stoner


BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Rose Mary Katonka Stoner, 62, of Bunker Hill, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at her home.

Born Sept. 26, 1939, in Hannastown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Kerila Katonka.

She was employed by Shoppers Food Warehouse in Leesburg, Va.
