Norma J. Ross

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Norma Jean Ross, 64, of 2014 Stillhouse Hollow Road, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at her home.

Born Nov. 27, 1937, in Shippensburg, she was the daughter of Edith C. McCleary Zullinger of Shippensburg, and the late Paul M. Zullinger.

She was a graduate of Shippensburg High School.

She worked at J. Schoeneman Co. for 22 years. For the past five years, she worked at Staples Direct.

She was a member of Salem United Brethren Church, Chambersburg.

She is survived by her husband, John E. Ross, whom she married Aug. 19, 1956; two daughters, Patricia Ann Ross and Bonnie J. Davis, both of Chambersburg; three sons, David E. Ross and John E. Ross Jr., both of Shippensburg, and Steven L. Ross of Fayetteville, Pa.; a sister, Pauline Snoke of Walnut Bottom, Pa.; a brother, Paul E. Zullinger of Shippensburg; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Salem United Brethren Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. Ronald Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Ltd., Chambersburg, which will be open after 2 p.m. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. There will be no viewing at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Brethren Church, 4349 Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201; or American Cancer Society, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Glenn K. Warnick

MT. ALBURN, Ill. - Glenn K. Warnick, 90, of Mt. Alburn, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Fairhaven's Christian Home, Decatur, Ill.

Born Nov. 10, 1911, in Farmersville, Ill., he was the son of the late Harvey K. and Sophia J Hertel Warnick.

His wife, Elizabeth Selina Neff Warnick, died Feb. 22, 2001. They were married Dec. 31, 1967.

He was a farmer.

He was a member of Mt. Alburn Lions Club, Kedron Masonic Lodge 340, Christian County Shrine Club, and was a Mason for 62 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Roseann Fisher of Hagerstown; two sisters, Lucille Halliday of Sacramento, Calif., and Mae Neutzling of Escondido, Calif.; four stepsons, Jim Holzworth, Bob Holzworth, Fred Holzworth and Bill Holzworth, all of Florida; a granddaughter; a grandson; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Alburn Church of Christ. The Rev. Russ Lance will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Alburn Cemetery, Mt. Alburn.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin, Taylorville, Ill. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Carrie F. Shives

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Carrie F. Shives, 92, of 13664 Buchanan Trail West, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Oct. 10, 1909, in Little Cove, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Annie A. Bivens Yeakle.

Her husband, Peter Calvin Shives, died Oct. 18, 1962. They were married June 29, 1935.

She was employed with the former U-Wanna-Wash Frock Co. in Fort Loudon, Pa., retiring in 1981.

She was a member of Charlestown United Methodist Church, and a member of United Methodist Women of Cove Gap, Pa.

She is survived by a daughter, Doris A. Unger of Mercersburg; a granddaughter, Dixie A. Chilcote of Fort Loudon; and two great-grandchildren.

She was the last in a family of 12 children, which included six brothers and five sisters.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg. The Revs. Phyllis J. Bard and W. David Kent will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Viewing will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the services Thursday.

Junior O. Taylor

YORK HAVEN, Pa. - Junior O. "JR" Taylor, 64, of York Haven, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at York (Pa.) Hospital.

Born April 4, 1937, in Manchester, Pa., he was the son of Viola Slaseman Taylor of York Haven, and the late Oscar J. Taylor.

He owned and operated Taylor's Variety Shop in Newberrytown, Pa., for more than 30 years, specializing in antique furniture and glassware.

He was a member of Newberry Church of God.

He was a member of Newberry Township Fire Co. 1.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Edlebute Taylor, whom he married Oct. 4, 1958; five daughters, Shirl A. Fauth of York, Cindy L. Puterio of New Cumberland, Pa., June L. Hollinger of Mount Wolf, Pa., Janet A. Sweeney of Norfolk, Va., and Mary A. Taylor of Hagerstown; two sons, Daniel Taylor of Etters, Pa., and John O. Taylor of Harrisburg, Pa.; a sister, Faye Rodger of Lewisberry, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and four stepgrandchildren.
