Mary C. Taylor


ANNANDALE, Va. - Mary Coulter Taylor, 92, of 7428 McWhorter Place, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Va.

Born April 26, 1909, in Knoxville, she was the daughter of the late William and Addie Carter Coulter.

She was of the Brethren faith.

She is survived by her husband, S. Bernard Taylor; a daughter, Mary Taylor Dos of Alexandria, Va.; two sons, Charles F. Taylor of Lowgap, N.C., and Wayne B. Taylor of Fairfax; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.

Services will be Thursday at noon at Brownsville Church of the Brethren, Brownsville, Md. The Rev. Dan Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, MD 21715.

Bertha D. Smith


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Bertha D. Smith, 87, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at her home.

Born June 11, 1914, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Warren C. and Mary E. Ripple Nesmith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin W. Smith.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was a member of St. Mary's Guild.

She was a member of National Cedaretts 150.

She is survived by a son, William Randy Smith of Martinsburg; a daughter, Beverly Diane Smith of Martinsburg; a granddaughter, Kathy McDonald of Inwood, W.Va.; a great-granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.

Services and burial will be private at her request.

Family members may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.




Mary J. Rosenberry


MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Mary Jane Rosenberry, 74, of Myers Avenue, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.

Born Feb. 19, 1927, in Fannettsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Anderson and Janet Amelia Foreman Rosenberry.

She retired after 28 years working in the dietary department at Fulton County Medical Center.

She was a member of McConnellsburg Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary, and was a volunteer at the Salvation Army in Chambersburg, Pa.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Mackey and Patricia Orr, both of Mercersburg, Pa.; two sons, Fred Leab of Three Springs, Pa., and Gilbert Gress of St. Thomas, Pa.; a sister, Addie Glunt of Fort Littleton, Pa.; a brother, William Rosenberry Menyon of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Rosenberry and John Rosenberry.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, Pa. The Rev. Rick Cepris will officiate. Burial will be in Neelyton-Pine Grove Cemetery, Neelyton.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.




Mary S. Gross


WILLIAMSPORT - Mary Stone Gross, of 16505 Virginia Ave., died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Homewood of Williamsport.

Born in Rohrersville, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Allen Stone Sr. and Hattie Mae Keedy Stone.

Her husband, C. Leon Gross, died in 1971.

She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School, and received her bachelor of science degree from Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, W.Va.

She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education as a school teacher. She taught first grade at Smithsburg Elementary School and third grade at Antietam Street School.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Myers of Hagerstown; a sister, Pauline S. Ewald of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Elmer A. Stone Jr. of Boonsboro; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Private services for the family will be at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Revs. Stephen D. Robison and Patricia L. Sebring will officiate. Entombment will be in Boonsboro Mausoleum.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 108 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Neal M. Grove


SOUTHPORT, N.C. - Neal Metcalf Grove, 80, of 1470 Lisa Road, Boiling Spring Lakes, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at his home.

Born Aug. 11, 1921, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Isaac and Mary Mentzer Grove.

He was a U.S. Army-Air Force veteran.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Southport.
