A 71-year-old Halfway man died Wednesday night after he climbed into his locked house through a window and fell, hitting his head on bathroom tile, a Washington County Sheriff's deputy said.

The man's name was not released Wednesday night because some family members had not been notified.

The death was accidental and "There was no foul play here whatsoever," Washington County Sheriff's Deputy Tracey Peyton said.

The accident happened at the man's house in the 10800 block of Lincoln Avenue, where he lived alone.

The man had locked himself out of his home and used a small ladder to climb into the bathroom through a window of his ranch-style home, Peyton said.

Peyton said the man fell about five feet onto the bathroom tile, sustaining head and neck injuries.

"It was quite a fall," Peyton said.

Family members became alarmed when they were unable to contact the man. The victim was found when a neighbor climbed up the ladder and entered the bathroom, Peyton said.

The victim had an unspecified medical condition, he said.

An autopsy was to be performed to determine the exact cause of death, he said.
