December prostitution stings lead to 15 arrests in Hagerstown



Hagerstown City Police made 15 arrests in five reverse prostitution stings held in December.

During the stings on Dec. 10, 11, 13, 14, and 18, a police officer posed as a prostitute.

The following men were charged with solicitation for prostitution.

-- William Nicholas Kassman, 46, 313 Colesville Manor Drive, Silver Spring, Md.

-- Ronald Scott Hines, 33, 445 Salem Ave., Apt. 2, Hagerstown.

-- Robert Cliff Compton II, 36, 943 Mulberry Ave., Hagerstown.

-- Curtis Lynn Beasley, 35, 110 W. Chaplin St., Sharpsburg.

-- Michael Thomas Price, 25, 18337 College Road, Hagerstown.

-- Daniel Woodroe Evans, 34 Cleveland Ave., Waynesboro, Pa.

-- John Stephen Shedlock, 1647 Gable Drive, Coopersburg, Pa.,

-- William Russell Kauffman II, 21, 7425 WaterFall Road, Hustontown, Pa.,

-- Darras David Deneen, 37, 604 Lake Gordon Road, Bedford, Pa.

-- John Elliot Murray Jr., 51, 802 Washington Ave., Hagerstown.

-- Michael Edward Poffenberger, 39, 132 John St., Hagerstown.

-- Richard Donald Smith, 55, 156 S. Potomac St., Apt. 1, Hagerstown.

-- James Justin Payne Sr., 35, 205 Beartrail, Whitefish, Mont.

All of the above were released on personal recognizance, police said.

Also arrested were:

-- Terry Eugene Lushbaugh, 47, 5 S. Main St., Mercersburg, Pa., who was charged with possession of fake drugs and solicitation for prostitution.

-- Joseph Eric Zitkus Jr., 27, 215 W. Mifflin St., Orwigsburg, Pa., who was charged with solicitation for prostitution. Police said he was found to be wanted in another jurisdiction.

Bond information on Lushbaugh and Zitkus was unavailable.
