Two dead after wreck near Clear Spring

A woman and a teen from Clear Spring died Friday night after their vehicles collided on U.S. 40 near here, police said.

Patricia Louise Boyd, 62, of 169 Cumberland St., died at the scene of the head-on collision.

Robert Allen Moore, 16, of 12312 Big Spring Road, died at Washington County Hospital.

According to Maryland State Police, Moore was driving a 1989 Ford F-150 pickup truck west on U.S. 40 at about 5:05 p.m. Friday when, for an unknown reason, the truck crossed the center line and struck Boyd's eastbound 1989 Buick LeSabre.

The collision, which destroyed both vehicles, happened about a half-mile west of Ashton Road.

The drivers were the only people in the vehicles, police said. There were no skid marks on the road from either vehicle, police said.

Police said both Moore and Boyd were wearing seat belts. Boyd's vehicle had a working airbag, police said.
