Scott Rice led four Hubs in double figure scoring with 18 points as No. 5 North Hagerstown defeated No. 9 Middletown 71-46 Wednesday night to pull even with the Knights in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League.

Rice added five assists, five steals and three blocks as North (6-2, 4-1) finished the first quarter on an 18-5 run to take a 20-11 lead it would not give back.

Tavis Green had 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals, while Cliff Carey added 17 points and four assists for the Hubs. Bernard Harris had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Jack O'Leary scored 16 points - including four 3-pointers - as the only player in double figures for Middletown (5-3, 4-1).

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Nathan Wingerd and Danley Shank combined for 15 of Chambersburg's 17 fourth-quarter points as the Trojans came from behind for a victory over Cumberland Valley, forging a three-way tie at the top of the Mid Penn Commonwealth.

Jeff Banks had a steal late in the fourth and passed to Shank, who made a layup and was fouled. Shank completed the three-point play - part of his 17-point, seven-rebound effort.

Wingerd finished with 18 points, while Bryan Bender had six assists for Chambersburg (9-1, 5-1).

Sanders added five steals as the Indians (6-6) outscored Big Spring 23-12 in the final quarter. David Carter made 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to ice the game.
