McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Hilda Mae Hill, 76, of 288 Quarry Lane, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, Pa.

Born Oct. 2, 1925, in Licking Creek, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Maurice Norman and Fatha Mae Oakman Sipes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Hill, in 1984.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Cito United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg.

She is survived by five daughters, Judy M. Sherman of Wachapreague, Va., Sandy K. Mellott of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., Jeanne L. Hollinshead of Harrisonville, Pa., and Barbara L. Garlock and Lisa A. Doyle, both of McConnellsburg; two sons, Robert A. Hill and Mike M. Hill, both of McConnellsburg; four brothers, Willis Sipes, Marvin Sipes and Norris Sipes, all of McConnellsburg and Quay Sipes of Greencastle, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Sipes and James Sipes; and a grandson.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Cito United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 9 p.m. at Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville; and Monday at 10 a.m. at the church.




Linda S. Summers


Linda Sue Renner Summers, 47, of Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown and formerly of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 11, 1954, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of James D. Renner of Fox Glen, W.Va., and the late Eva I. Eckenrode Renner.

She was self-employed as a day care provider; and was previously employed by Mountain Gate Family Restaurant in Thurmont, Md.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Charles Town, W.Va.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 28 years, Daniel H. Summers; her stepmother, Betty D. Renner of Fox Glen; two sisters, Debbie Williams of Dickerson, Md., and Betty J. King of Adamstown, Md.; three brothers, Robert D. Renner of Frederick, Randy J. Renner of Walkersville, Md., and Daniel E. Renner of Tallahassee, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a nephew.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The Rev. Stan Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Mary M. Stevenson


HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Mary M. Stevenson, 53, of Hedgesville, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Feb. 16, 1948, in Trout, W.Va., she was the daughter of Beulah Truex Armentrout of Hedgesville and the late Lagene Armentrout.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Stevenson.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Catherine M. Cranford of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Janet Bittorf of Dundalk, Md.; and two brothers, Thomas Armentrout and Leo Armentrout, both of Hedgesville.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Troutfelter.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Morgan County, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.




Berneda J. Wiley


WILLIAMSPORT - Berneda June "Tood" Wiley, 82, of 205 S. Artizan St., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 7, 1919, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late John Elmer and Beulah E. Moudy Wiley.

She was employed by Fairchild Industries in Hagerstown, retiring in 1982. Previously, she was employed by Corning in Greencastle, Pa.; and Federal Silk Mill in Williamsport.

She was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Williamsport.

She was a member of the AARP and the UAW.

She is survived by a sister, Frances L. Murphy of Hagerstown; a brother, William E. Wiley of Williamsport; and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth L. Wiley and Cleta L. Hardt.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Revs. James E. Swecker and Tim Shawyer will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at noon.
