A Harrisonburg, Va., man was being held on $151,500 bond Sunday in connection with an armed robbery at a Washington County motel Thursday night.

Lamont Douglas Johnson, 38, was charged with armed robbery, theft less than $500 and first and second-degree assault in connection with the robbery at the Motel 6 near Hagerstown.

Police said a man carrying a knife entered the lobby of the motel and jumped over the counter around 8 p.m. Thursday.

He shut a motel employee in a room and removed cash from the registers before fleeing on foot toward Halfway Boulevard, police said.

Police investigated the tips and located Johnson and evidence related to the robbery, police said.

He was being held at the Washington County Detention Center Sunday evening, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
