Mini ATV stolen on Christmas Day


The Washington County Sheriff's Department is trying to determine who stole an all-terrain vehicle on Christmas Day, Deputy John C. Martin said.

The small Yamaha child's model four-wheeler was blue with white rims, Martin said.

It was stolen from a home at 20308 Jefferson Blvd.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Sheriff's office at 301-791-3020.

Car window smashed for 2nd time in a week


The Washington County Sheriff's Department is asking the public for help determining who damaged a car at 60 W. Bishop Lane, Smithsburg, on Christmas Day, Deputy John C. Martin said.

The rear window of a Chevy Cavalier was shattered, he said. The damage was estimated at $350.

It is the second time in one week the car was damaged, he said.

Glass door shattered at Md. pizza place


WILLIAMSPORT - A vandal smashed the glass front door of a pizza place recently, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

A deputy said the vandal used a tool to smash the bottom portion of the door of Tony's Pizza at 10 E. Salisbury St., between 6:30 p.m. Dec. 24 and 10 a.m. Dec. 26.

The replacement value is $50, a deputy said.

Sports drinks stolen from baseball stand


BOONSBORO - Burglars stole sports drinks from a concession stand on Monroe Avenue and then poured out condiments and sprayed a fire extinguisher.

Sometime between 7 p.m. Christmas Eve and noon Wednesday, burglars knocked out a piece of plywood covering a window to enter the South Mountain Little League concession stand, Washington County Sheriff's deputies said.

The burglars stole four cases of sports drinks, valued at $52.

They then poured ketchup and mustard on the floor and sprayed fire extinguishers over the kitchen area.

Cops looking for juvenile rock tossers


Juveniles throwing rocks smashed the driver's side window of a car as it traveled in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue Wednesday evening.

Hagerstown City Police said police K-9 dogs were searching the area for at least two juveniles believed to have thrown the rocks around 9:15 p.m.

No one was injured in the incident, police said.

Decorated deer stolen from front yard


A $70 Styrofoam deer being used as a Christmas decoration was stolen from the front yard of a home on National Pike Wednesday.

The deer, which is also an archery target, was taken between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Washington County Sheriff's deputies said.

Pa. driver avoids injury when car hits pole


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Greencastle, Pa., man struck a telephone pole on Molly Pitcher Highway after losing control of his vehicle Sunday, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said Joshua Yohn was driving a 1995 Chevrolet pickup in the 5000 block of Molly Pitcher Highway at 8:50 a.m.
