Mary B. Deshong

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mary B. Straley Deshong, 85, of 10437 Grant Shook Road, and formerly of 432 N. Allison St., died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at her home.

Born Sept. 3, 1916, in Little Cove, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William A. and Elnora Pine Straley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman L. Deshong, in 1985. They were married May 15, 1938.

She attended schools in Lemasters, Pa.

She was a homemaker; and did domestic work in the Greencastle area for 45 years.

She attended Pathway Full Gospel Church in Marion, Pa.; and Greencastle Foursquare Gospel Church in Greencastle.

She is survived by one son, Richard Straley of Greencastle; two sisters, Hazel Long of Lemasters and Phyllis Henry of Hustontown, Pa.; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mrs. Elmer Wolfe, Louise Smith, Bertha Hawbaker, Dorothy Wilson and Grace Winegardner; and three brothers, Chester Straley, Lee Straley and Roy Straley.


Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. The Rev. Glen Hartman and Pastor Christy Stouffer will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margery M. Hager

WINCHESTER, Va. - Margery M. Hager, 91, of Westminster-Canterbury, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at home.

Born July 9, 1910, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Taylor and Nancy Rebecca Barber.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth T. Hager.

She worked as an elementary school music teacher in Washington County. She retired as a broker for wholesale produce.

She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

An inurnment service will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. The Rev. Gregory Martin will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Cartwright Funeral Home, Winchester.

Leno Vannucci

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Rev. Leno Vannucci, 71, of 250 Pattison Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born April 9, 1930, in Sarah Furnace, Pa., he was the son of the late Nello and Antonietta Landucci Vannucci.

He was a 1947 graduate of Sligo (Pa.) High School; and attended St. Vincent's College, Latrobe, Pa.; and New Kensington (Pa.) Business College.

He worked for GPU Service Corp. in Reading, Pa., as an accountant, retiring in 1994. He worked for Metropolitan Edison Co. in Reading.

A minister in the Apostolic Church, he had served in churches in Pennsylvania and New York.

He is survived by his wife, M. Carolyn Auman Vannucci; a daughter, Anita M. Vannucci at home; three stepdaughters, Pamela K. Traczuk, Annette L. Esselborn and Sandra K. Noll, all of Reading; a sister, Lena Clinger of Hagerstown; a brother, the Rev. Loris Vannucci of Martin, Ky.; eight stepgrandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.

Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. The Rev. Joseph Girdler will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Laureldale Cemetery, Reading.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Debra M. O'Toole

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Debra M. "Debbie" Jenkins O'Toole, 47, of 35 N. Church St., died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center.

Born Jan. 3, 1954, in Woodstock, Va., she was the daughter of Paige W. and Fleta W. Wilkins Jenkins.

She was a 1971 graduate of Waynesboro High School. She graduated in 1974 from Harrisburg (Pa.) School of Nursing as a registered nurse.

She had worked for Lutheran Social Services in Chambersburg, Pa.; Waynesboro Hospital; and retired from Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse.

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waynesboro. She attended St. Rita's Catholic Church, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.

She was a member of High School Reunion Committee Class of 1971; and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, both of Waynesboro.

She did volunteer work for the Civitan Club of Frederick.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Joseph L. O'Toole II, whom she married April 20, 1974; two daughters, Rebecca J. Waltz of Falling Waters, W.Va. and Mary C. O'Toole of Waynesboro; two sons, Benjamin D. O'Toole of Manila, Pa. and Jeffrey A. O'Toole of Waynesboro; two brothers, Richard L. Jenkins of Silver Spring, Md. and Barry M. Jenkins of Dover, Del.; two grandsons; a niece; a nephew; aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery.
