Mail Call for 12/13

"I see there is another article in the paper about the Role Models Academy up at Fort Ritchie. It seems to me that there are so many problems there with that so- called institution. Maybe they should be closed and let the Frederick County or Washington County School Board take it over and do what they can with their students."

"I want to let all of the Hagers-town Tigers All Star Cheerleading Squad know that I think they are doing a great job and they are practicing very hard. They also know what sportsmanship is all about. We love all of you girls. From your coach."

"I hope the Herald-Mail and Tim Rowland in particular, will keep a watch on our School Board."

"In regards to the people who live close to the sewer house in Boonsboro and how bad it smells. I feel sorry for you guys, every time I go by there, I have to put my windows up. It really stinks. You said the state and other people aren't helping. Well, I would do whatever it takes."

"I think there should be more crackdowns on DWIs. Since they lowered the blood alcohol content, the bars are even more crowded. I believe that it's mostly the bartenders' responsibility to shut people off. I know for a fact that when bars close at 2 a.m. at least three fourths of the people are over the blood alcohol limit. I never read anything in the paper about them cracking down."

"I was wondering, I play Keno twice a week and I notice that the person behind the bar that is giving me the tickets, has a bunch of them in their hand and I see them keep on punching them out from the machine. Is it legal for them to play Keno while they are working?"

"To the caller who wanted to take his family to see pretty Christmas lights. Go around the City Park, there are some nice homes on top of the hill and on Virginia Avenue. Take Virginia Avenue all the way down into Williamsport, there are some great lights on the way and the Williamsport Park is beautiful. Try the West End, Devonshire, West Side and Hump Road, it's great. On Leitersburg Pike, it's called Clopper Road. Try U.S. 40 to Frederick, a few miles before Frederick, I think it's called Rose Bud Court, something like that. Thanks to everyone who put out lights this year."

"Can anyone tell me what can be done about people parking their cars in front of your house, that don't live there, and letting their cars sit there for days? Where are the people who live there supposed to park when they come home?"

"On Tuesday evening, my husband was coming home from work and some naughty boys threw down stones and broke my husband's windshield, causing him a lot of damage. He could have really been hurt, let alone have a heart attack. I don't think this is funny. It was around 6:30 p.m. and I am sure they would have homework or something."

"For the man with the two children who were selling homemade gel candles on Monday night on Broadway. I want to apologize for not looking at your supplies that night. If you could return to my house any time after 7 p.m. any evening, I would be glad to look at them. I had been in bed and was half asleep when you rang my doorbell. I am in the 100 block on the south side."

"How did we ever get along before there was CNN and MS-NBC? It must have been like what it was like before there was electricity. People must have just sat around and vegetated."
