Robert A. Chamberlin


FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Robert A. Chamberlin, 87, of The Village of Laurel Run, and formerly of Waynesboro, Pa., and New Port Richey, Fla., died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born May 15, 1914, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of the late Moddie G. and Delia Metz Chamberlin.

His wife, Pauline Minnich Chamberlin, died in August.

He attended Greencastle High School.

Prior to his retirement in 1976, he was a machine inspector on the erecting floor at Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro. He was formerly employed by Landis Tool Co. in Greencastle, Pa., and Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Theater.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in New Port Richey, Fla.

He is survived by twin daughters, Cindy L. Chamberlin and Sandra C. Borzager, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Phyllis Meyers of Chambersburg, Pa., Kathryn Hartle of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Delia Shrader of Waynesboro; and nieces.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Chamberlin.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Stacy Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in Brown's Mill Cemetery in Kauffman Station.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.




Ronald E. Kuhns


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ronald Edward "Buzz" Kuhns, 54, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at his home.

Born April 13, 1947, in Uniontown, Pa., he was the son of Opal Shaffer Kuhns of Uniontown and the late Jacob Kuhns.

He retired from General Motors.

He U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, among other awards.

He was a member of the United Auto Workers union.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Eleanor Suzann Bellus Kuhns; a daughter, Lisa Mitchell of Hatboro, Pa.; two sisters, Loretta Martelli and Carol Smith, both of Uniontown; a brother, Gary Kuhns of Uniontown; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Walter F. Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langehorne, Pa.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret R. Slifer


NEWARK, Del. - Margaret R. Slifer, 78, of Newark, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Christiana Hospital in Newark.

Born Oct. 21, 1923, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Mary E. Linger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Slifer, in 1979.

She was a legal secretary for DuPont Company in Delaware.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Delaware.

She is survived by a daughter, Eileen Elfers; and two grandsons, Achary Elfers and Jonathan Elfers, all of Newark.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. Pastors Curtis E. Leins and Robert F. McKnight will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.




Ruth E. Hornbaker


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Ruth E. Hornbaker, 87, of 9853 Shimpstown Road, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at her home.

Born Dec. 19, 1913, near Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late J. Daniel and Barbara Wolf Egolf.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank V. Hornbaker, on Feb. 5, 2001. They were married April 27, 1940.

She was an employee of the Mercersburg Shirt Factory; and the former Mercersburg Dress Factory.

She was a member of Maple Grove First Church of God in Mercersburg, and was secretary of the Sunday school.

She is survived by a daughter, Verna K. Barnhart of Mercersburg; two brothers, George Egolf of Hancock and John Egolf of Southern Pines, N.C.; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and a stepgreat-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by seven sisters and brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Maple Grove First Church of God, 11960 Punch Bowl Road, Mercersburg. The Revs. Norman C. Hege and Ernest E. Pletcher will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg; and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.




Victor A. Neikirk


Victor Albert Neikirk, 79, of 17541 York Road in Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 13, 1922, in Huyetts Crossroads, he was the son of the late Victor and Alta Hoffman Neikirk.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Neikirk, in 1990.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was employed by Western Maryland Railroad, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club.
