Coy will deliver Thanksgiving meals to seniors tonight

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Rep. Jeff Coy will deliver Thanksgiving meals to local seniors Wednesday night.

Coy, D-Franklin, will help Shippensburg Health Care Center employees deliver free ham dinners to the residents of a senior housing community. This is the fifth year he has participated.

The delivery begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Square Apartments at 101 N. Prince St. About 100 senior citizens will receive the meals, which include baked ham, sweet potatoes, succotash and baked apple crisp.

"I commend Shippensburg Health Care Center and its employees for once again remembering the senior citizens of Shippensburg," Coy said. "I also applaud the efforts of the many churches, businesses and organizations that are serving hot holiday meals this Thanksgiving."

Shippensburg Health Care Center, a nursing facility at 121 Walnut Bottom Road, is donating the Thanksgiving meals to seniors who otherwise might not have holiday meals.

"Providing these ham dinners to the residents of Episcopal Square is just a small token of our appreciation to the residents of Shippensburg," said Randy Holtry, assistant administrator of the health care center.
