Mail Call for 5/15

Editor's note - Please be as brief as possible when calling Mail Call, The Daily Mail's reader call-in line.

Mail Call is not staffed on weekends or holidays so it is best to call Mail Call during the week. The Mail Call number is 301-791-6236.

You are welcome to leave a recorded message on any subject, but some calls will be screened out.

Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"To the person who stole my son's bike out of my yard on South Cannon Avenue on Monday night. My yard had a chain across it, but you had to have climbed over it. You must be pretty brave to come into my yard. That was really dirty of you and I hope you pay for what you did."

"Thank you to the deputy sheriff who changed my flat tire on U.S. 40, up from the Delmar on Friday, when it was 98 degrees. It was very considerate of you and I really appreciate it."

"In honor of Mother's Day, I would like to wish all the mothers in Hagerstown a Happy Mother's Day and in honor of my mother who passed away 13 years ago."

"I want someone to call in and tell me what to do about someone who has a chained dog outside and let it bark all day. I have a sick daughter and the dog barks all day, it is very annoying. I don't live in the city, just outside the city. We used to have a quiet neighbor, but now that this person has moved in, we have had no peace or rest at all."

"After reading the call-in about the person whose grandchildren had to pay almost $300 to get their dog back. That too happened to my grandchildren. I checked in the city code book and it states that the SPCA will only charge the owner $10 to retrieve their pet and a $1 a day for boarding. I think someone needs to check into this."

"Would the person who called the religious poem to the rhyme of Mary Had a Little Lamb, would you please call it back into Mail Call. I wanted to show it to my grandson, but my husband threw the paper away."

"To the person who thinks that drug pushers should be put in dog kennels. I say that it the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Drug pushers should go to prison."

"I would like to wish my favorite history teacher, Tom Kitchens, a very happy 59th birthday."

"Thanks Mail Call for the information on the telemarketers. I appreciate it. My card is going out in today's mail."

"We need more sheriff's deputies patrolling the Eastern Boulevard area. Every night when you are sitting outside, it is like being in a shooting gallery. I am sure that this is not legal to shoot a high powered handgun, night after night in a residential area."

"How come every time they clean North Mulberry Street, they have to clean North Mulberry clear up to the railroad tracks and they clean East Avenue at the same time? Where do they expect these people to park their vehicles while their street is getting cleaned?"
