SILVER SPRING, Md. - Travis Carbaugh, Sam Watters, Jesse Bennaka and Kellen Poffenberger all hit two-run homers in the fifth inning Friday afternoon as North Hagerstown hit eight home runs in the game to tie their own state record and crush Kennedy 35-6 in the first round of the Class 3A West tournament.

North Hagerstown also hit eight home runs in a game during the 1984 season, according to the MPSSAA record book. It's the second time in a week the Hubs have been involved in a state-record game. They and Williamsport combined for 11 homers in a game last Friday.

Matt Johnson went 6-for-6 with a three-run homer, three doubles and six RBI and Paul Berry homered twice to drive in five runs for the Hubs (12-9), who advance to play top-seeded North Carroll at home on Monday in the quarterfinals.
