New for 2001: Batwing is the newest roller coaster at Six Flags America, and boasts of approximating flight for its passengers.

Strapped into a harness, riders tilt backward with their heads facing forward. At the top of an initial, 115-foot hill, passengers are reclined to a 30-degree angle so all that can be seen is the sky above them. The ride then "soars" through eight inversions, corkscrews, twists and horizontal loops.

Also new is a skycoaster, in which passengars are strapped into a harness, hoisted 100 feet in the air and swung down to within 20 feet of the ground.
