Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"Yes, I'm sure that the city has a loud noise ordinance. I don't think it's being enforced at the grocery store parking lot off Pennsylvania Avenue near North High. I'd very much appreciate it if they could check that out more often. Thank you."

"I'm wondering if anyone has a list of craft events and craft shows and where you call to get information on how to set up your own craft table."

"Well, George Bush, what happened to the recession that you said President Clinton left you with? Economic statistics showed that the economy grew at a solid pace in the first quarter. That's good, because when the real recession comes later this year, everybody will know who's to blame and it won't be backdated on Clinton. And another thing, you promised during the election campaign that you were going to get the Arabs to pump us more oil - that you could do this - that you could do that - and here we have less oil than we had last year. Then you criticize Clinton for tapping the strategic reserve to make sure we had heating oil and our actual heating oil was a little bit less than the year before. You said that would jeopardize our national security. Now I hear talk that you want to tap our strategic reserve for summer vacation driving. I don't think that's right, either. People are going to wake up to what you are, and it will be soon."

"The time for punishment seems to be set on the date that Tim McVeigh is going to be executed. Now, he's going to pay for what he's done. But what about Bill Clinton and Janet Reno? They gave the order at Waco. Who are they going to answer to?"

"Could someone please pay attention to the 300 block of East Franklin Street? People leave their trash cans out seven days a week, 24 hours a day, trash on the street, televisions, ironing boards, clothes, it's a real mess. Could someone please help us? Thank you."

"We found a pair of sunglasses on the parking lot at Sheetz on the corner of Fairground and Potomac avenues. If you can describe them, we will be happy to see that you get them, or you can call us at 301-733-0429."

"What's worse than a Democratic Republican? Paul Muldowney singing the praises of Mayor Bruchey. His letter to the editor in Sunday's paper made me nauseated."

"We would like to say thank you to whoever picked up the sofa cushion we lost on Sunday on U.S. 11 in Williamsport. They put it by the sign on the side of the road. We went back and found it in good shape. Thank you for being so thoughtful. Thanks very much."

"Yeah, can somebody tell me when grass clippings are supposed to be picked up on West Church Street here in Hagerstown in the West End? I've been putting it out for three weeks - every night for three weeks - and it's still not been picked up. Or can we go ahead and take it to the rubble fill for no charge? I'm just curious. Otherwise, I'll just start sticking it in with my regular trash and get rid of it that way."

"Guess what was on the morning television and radio news? We're now going to pay China for the crane and the barge and everything to remove the plane from their country. Boy, Mr. Bush, what a pushover. I thought you were going to strengthen the military and make America tough and we were going to be the leader of the world. What a joke."

"This is for the person who called in about microwaving corn in the husk. It's two minutes per ear."

"I would like to suggest to the city of Hagerstown that they could use the old Dunkin' Donuts as a bus station. It would be very nice for people to have a place to get inside in the winter. It would have a restroom in it and it would do away with a lot of congestion of the buses parking on the street."

"It's a shame that some people still aren't educated about people with physical disabilities. I think that they need to start doing more of that in the schools because apparently around here there are still some children that are not being taught right and if they don't get it at home, where are they going to be taught better?"

"I don't understand why people tailgate. I saw some people tailgating a few cars in front of me, and it doesn't make any sense to tailgate someone because, God forbid, if they have to slow down or stop suddenly, you are going to hit the car. I mean, people, it just makes sense to take your time driving and not be tailgating. It's very dangerous. Thank you."

"I would like to thank Hamilton Nissan for the beautiful sign they put on Dual Highway with the time and temperature. It is most welcome. Thank you."
