BOILING SPRINGS, Pa. - Becky Porter allowed six hits and one walk without allowing an earned run, while striking out 10 in six innings for James Buchanan (9-3 overall, 8-3 Mid-Penn Conference Colonial Division).

Porter, who raised her record to 9-3, also had a two-run double in the fifth inning to give the Rockets a 3-1 lead.


Amanda Miller and Jenna Swailes had three hits each, while Jessica Ross added two hits for James Buchanan.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Martinsburg (13-6 overall, 6-1 Apple Valley League) swept a softball doubleheader from Jefferson.

In the opener, Tabi Merceruio gave up only one walk in her one-hit shutout as she struck out 14 batters to raise her record to 7-0. Michelle Scales doubled in the second for Martinsburg's only hit.

In the nightcap, Christee Anderson allowed two hits without a walk or an earned run, while striking out eight batters, in seven innings to improve her record to 6-3.

Heather Bell and Jen Camby added three hits for Martinsburg, while Carrie Mong had two hits, while Lauren Scales got a two-run double for Martinsburg.
